How do I know if I need a manager?

Having a manager in the US helps demonstrate that your LLC's management and direction are carried out there, reinforcing its substance as a real business. This can be key to preventing the IRS from attempting to reclassify it as a tax resident in Spain.
The manager does not actively manage the business, but rather serves an administrative and support role. Their role helps structure the LLC, but taxation still depends on the owner's tax residence and the regulations applicable in their country.
At the end of the year, the profits of a single-member disregarded entity LLC are attributed to the owner and must be reported in their country of tax residence. The tax obligation falls on the LLC owner, with no automatic oversight by the US or Spain.
